TIPS FOR FRESHMEN ADMITTED FOR AUTUMN SEMESTER (2025)

We feel great delight in extending our heartfelt congratulations on your success in applying for admission to Jinan University and our warmest welcome to you. Given below are our tips on the procedure for entrance registration:


I. Time for Entrance Registration


The registration date is on September 13th. 2025. However, the exact registration date for freshmen from different countries and regions is subject to the further notice of the International School in accordance with university regulations. Freshmen have to follow the school guideline and arrive on the designated registration date.


II. Venue for Entrance Registration


Freshmen admitted by the programs of Clinical Medicine offered by the International School will be registered at the Shipai Campus (Address: #601, Huangpu Avenue West, Tianhe District, Guangzhou).


Freshmen admitted by the programs of International Economics and Trade, Accounting, Finance, Pharmacy, and Computer Science and Technology, International Journalism and Communication offered by the International School will be registered at the Panyu Campus (Address: #855, Xingye Avenue East, Panyu District, Guangzhou).


III. Materials Needed for Entrance Registration


1. “Admission Result” displayed on the JNU undergraduate admission website (https://lxlz.jnu.edu.cn).

2. Original passport and entry study visa.

3.High school student record materials. International students are required to prepare their application materials according to the admission prospectus.

4. Eight 1-inched photos (frontal, bareheaded), and two 1.5-inched photos (red background) for the purpose of credentials after registration.

5. A copy of passport and acceptance letterwith owner’s name, student ID, school and the admitted program to authorize the university to open a bank card. Please also write “I hereby authorize Jinan University to apply and receive bank card for me” and your mobile phone number on the passport copy.  


IV. Fees Paid Upon Entrance Registration (The following listed items are subject to the appraisal of the Price Bureau of Guangdong Province and to be paid at the Finance Department of Jinan University.)

Note: Tuition for Accounting program includes a sum of ¥6,000 for examination fee and teaching materials provided by the Association of Canadian Public Accountants, the co-sponsor of the program.


2. Accommodation Fees (¥RMB/academic year)

Depending on the conditions of the dorm provided, the accommodation fee at Shipai Campusis ¥2,500-4,000/person/academic year for a room shared by 2-5 students. The accommodation fee at Panyu Campus is ¥1,440/academic year for a room shared by 5 students.  


3. Medical insurance fee

In accordance with the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the school's provisions, international students studying in Mainland of China are required to purchase group comprehensive insurance. A valid proof of purchasing such group comprehensive insurance or other legitimate insurance documents is a mandatory material for international students to complete the enrollment registration procedures upon arrival at the school.

International students must purchase a one-year group comprehensive insurance before enrolling and renew the insurance before each annual registration. When registering as new students, please provide an insurance purchase certificate that covers the entire study period; otherwise, registration will not be processed.

Insurance purchase period: August 1 to September 10, 2025.


4. Ways to Pay

Freshmen shall pay their fees via Wechat, Alipay, International Bank Card or Industrial and Commercial Bank of China online banking prior to the registration. Please read the attachment for more information.     


V. Kind Reminders


1. Physical Check-up

Newly admitted students are required to have a health check after registration and take a psychology test and evaluation as arranged by the school. Students who are diagnosed as having a disease listed in the “Guidance on Work of Physical Check-up for University Students” shall be persuaded to leave school.


2. For visa requirements for international students, please read the attached "Guide to Visa and Residence Permit Application for International Students 2025".


3. Those who illegally obtained qualification for entrance examinations and have been admitted or obtained the student status by cheating or by forging, altering personal information and/or by any other means of fraud, shall be disqualified for their entrance to the university.  


4. Freshmen Information Service:

(1) Activate JNUID: JNUID (student ID) is used for opening an internet account, obtaining JNU ID card and accessing JNU information services. From late-August please visit https://info.jnu.edu.cn to set your password and activate your JNUID.

(2) JNU WeChat Services: Please follow and subscribe JNU Official WeChat account (JinanUniversity) and bind your JNUID to access various JNU information services through WeChat.

(3) Freshman registration: From late-August 2025, please visit “Freshman Service” on (https://info.jnu.edu.cn)or JNU official WeChat account (JinanUniversity) to check information and guidelinesregarding student ID card, campus network etc.

(4) There will be senior students assigned to assist you during the orientation period. You may contact a senior student through the JNU Freshmen Applet in JNU official Wechat account (JinanUniversity).

(5) Freshmen will need to open their Yiban account following the JNU Yiban Registration Guidance for 2025 Freshmen in order to receive orientation requirements and arrangements.


5. It is compulsory for freshmen to take part in the university orientation. Please get dark sports pants and trainers ready for various activities. Orientation details can be found on JNU Student Study and Development official Wechat account: xsc85227090.


6. Please ride shared bikes instead of electric motorcycles on campus for the safety of JNU. Shared bikes are available around you for safer and healthier green commuting. Together we will preserve an environment-friendly campus.

Guide to Visa and Residence Permit Application for International Students 2025

(Undergraduates)


In order to promote the service of visa and residence permit application for international students, in accordance with Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China, Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Administration of the Entry and Exit of Foreigners, Administrative Measures for the Enrollment and Cultivation of International Students by Schools, Standards of Higher Education for International Students, this notice is hereby formulated and announced.



The Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China (hereafter JW202) will be issued to international students byThe Admissions Office of Jinan University. From 2025, the JW202 form will be adopt to electronic version only. The method to download your JW202 will be sent to the email address you filled out when applying Jinan University.


Type A: For International Students Outside China Before Registration


1.International students planning for long-term studies over 180 days at Jinan University, shall submit the letters of admission (Admission Result” displayed on the JNU undergraduate admission website. You will receive the hard copy after arriving on campus), the valid passports and JW202 to Chinese Consulates-General or Embassies of China in their home countries for the application of X1 visa before entering China.

2. International students having entered China with X1 visa MUST apply for residence permit for study within 30 days after their arrival in China to the local immigration departments.


 ?How to apply the residence permit:

Step 1: Obtain the Temporary Registration Form for Visitors from the local police station.

Step 2: Take the passport-size digital photo and keep the receipt (Receipt of China Visa Photograph for Foreigner in Guangdong Province).

Step 3: Take the visa physical examination for international students and keep the examination report or receipt. Don`t forget to make a reservation on the official WeChat account of the Health Care Center Of Guangzhou International Travel 广州国际旅行卫生保健中心.

Step 4: Submit the materials mentioned above to the visa office of the University (Room 130 at the Administration Building, Shipai Campus) and get the stamped statement letter, Visa and Residence Permit Application Form. The visa office will make the online reservation of visa application for international students.

Step 5: Submit the materials for visa or residence permit application to the local immigration department.


Type B: For International Students Inside China


International students planning for long-term studies over 180 days at Jinan University MUST apply to the local immigration department for residence permit for study within 3 months after their registration at the University.


 ?How to apply the residence permit:

Step 1: Obtain the Temporary Registration Form for Visitors from the local police station.

Step 2: Take the passport-size digital photo and keep the receipt (Receipt of China Visa Photograph for Foreigner in Guangdong Province).

Step 3: Submit the materials mentioned above to the visa office of the University (Room 130 at the Administration Building, Shipai Campus) and get the stamped statement letter from Jinan University, Visa and Residence Permit Application Form. The visa office of the University will make the online reservation of visa application for international students.

Step 4: Submit the materials for visa or residence permit application to the local immigration department.
